i lost myself while i was deep within my thoughts ,

painting pictures of what could have gone wrong ,

i still see you , and that is sad ,

i tried to convince myself that this is not about you ,

but it is , it's always been about you ,

the lies ,

the sleepless nights ,

the love going unnoticed ,

your greed ,

your low tolerance of self-love ,

societal standards that shook you ,

just everything that is beneath the person i thought you were ,

love alone could not save you from the monster you became overnight ,

i tried to ,

i failed ,

i failed you but not myself ,

i still see you , its sad ,

i wanted you to see me too ,

but you never tried to ,

it's sad ,

it's about you ,

it has always been about you ,

but was it ever about me ?
